websters is a Cambridge based firm offering Tax, Legal and Accounting Services to clients in the UK and around the world.
Our multidisciplinary team led by a former Senior Inspector of Taxes includes Chartered Accountants, Chartered Tax Advisers, a Solicitor and an Independent Financial Adviser.
The firm was established in 1990 with Andrew operating on his own from home and specialising in providing one-off advisory services with a particular emphasis on helping businesses being investigated by the Inland Revenue. Keeping abreast of the times, the focus of business development shifted towards providing taxation and accountancy services for clients needing advice on an on-going basis.
Andrew continued to grow the business by adding experienced competent professionals to the team to cope with the ever increasing client base. He also ensured that the initial premise of being able to offer clients exceptional quality of service with personalised attention was not lost. The success of this led to the addition of legal services in Autumn 1998.
From 2000 we started developing software through a sister company and we still operate our online accounting software launched in 2002 and now the longest standing Online Software Service in the UK. We continue to develop software primarily for our own use and our Client Portal is due to launch in May 2018.
In 2002 the main business was incorporated as Andrew Webster Ltd and rebranded as “websters” in 2013. In 2017 Anderson & Co a practice of Chartered Accountants joined us and the combined business was reorganised into a Group Structure Websters Group Holdings Ltd.
Our team now grown to over 35 people in the UK and Australia and includes Chartered Accountants, Chartered Tax Advisers, a Lawyer and an Independent Financial Adviser.
In 2018 the decision was made that the future of the business would be as an Employee Owned business – the so-called “John Lewis model”. On 26 March 2018 an Employee Trust was created owning a share of the business and over time this Trust will increase its ownership until it owns the majority of shares. Currently 15% of the shares are in Trust for the whole team.
